Kurios a Greek word from the Newer Testament of the Holy Bible, meaning Lord, so we proclaim and declare that Jesus Christ is Lord.
Don't miss the obvious warning signs!
In all generations and most walks of life believers should not be surprised to encounter sincere men and women who teach and proclaim their understanding of the scriptures in such a way that, with a careful and thorough knowledge of the whole Word of God, one is able to discern they have not taken the whole counsel of God’s word.
Some think that the earth is about to be annihilated (completely obliterated) and that the meaning of the phrase in the book of Revelation 21:1: 'a new heaven and earth' means that God will start again with creating the planet. Others believe that there will not be a literal millennium, simply a 'spiritual' one. These ideas are rooted in catholicism which is itself rooted in gnosticism.
Now is not the time to discuss those conceptual philosophies, but now is the time to observe the warning signs in the earth.
In Matthew 24:4 the Lord Jesus warned his disciples: "Be careful that no-one leads you astray". Today there is much deception, and the teachings of men cannot be relied upon to give us understanding. Only in God's Word is there understanding.
Jesus also informed us we "will hear of wars and rumours of wars" but "the end is not yet". Ethnic tribes will rise against each other, kingdoms of men against other kingdoms, and He also warned there would be "Famines, plagues and earthquakes" in various places. But His comfort was that we should not be troubled. These signs are only the birth-pains of His new Kingdom.
There is only one God and He is One in tri-unity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. He is the God who created us and He is the One who seeks to forgive our rebellion against Him, so that we can be with Him in His perfect kingdom for all eternity. But if we really genuinely want to join the Kingdom of Heaven, that means we have to:
Admit we have rebelled against the God of all creation, the God of Israel whose name is Yeshua Ha Mashiach - Jesus the Messiah - the Annointed One
Ask for His forgiveness - which He freely gives to all who are honestly wanting to meet Him
Welcome Him by receiving the Holy Spirit - the Spirit of Jesus
Be determined to be led by Jesus in and through a changed life
Become a witness to the good news of God's transforming presence and power, so that others may receive Him also.
Every kingdom has a king. The One God intends to return to this earth when He will reign from Jerusalem as King over all the earth. Then, according to Revelation 11:15, the kingdom of the world will have become "the Kingdom of the Lord and of His Christ. He will reign forever and ever!"
Matthew 24:7-8,11 informs us there will be wars, famines, plagues and earthquakes as signs that the birth-pains of the new kingdom are occurring. But birth-pains are pains that occur well before the birth actually occurs. Jesus also warned that many false prophets will arise who will lead many astray.
Much has yet to happen for biblical prophecy to be fulfilled entirely and for Him to appear in person on this earth. The pattern of scripture is that God will judge all the gods of this world as He did when bringing His people out of Egypt. God will judge all rebellion against Him and His Word, as He did when flooding the world at the time of Noah, or raining sulphurous material onto Sodom and Gomorrah during the life of Abraham. But, things are happening that could be signs we should notice.
Presently there are:
There is even a movement known as the New Apostolic Reformation seeking to re-write the scriptures according not to the Word already deliverd to us, but according to experiential charismania and the teachings of men.
Watch out that no-one leads you astray! The only Rock is the Word in the Spirit. The Holy Spirit only ever confirms the Word of God. A false word leads to a false spirit. Build on the Rock and your house will stand. Build on the sand and it will be swept away (Matthew 7:24-27)!
Please observe the warning signs. We urge the body of Messiah to read only the Word, letting God teach you by His Spirit, the Holy Spirit; avoiding the teachings of men (Matthew 15:9)! Read, read, read the Word of God. It is your only preservation against the coming tsunami of error.
